Selling EBooks on ClickBank Part 2

January 30th, 2009 1 comment

One of the great things about ClickBank is that you only pay that joining fee once. Currently, it is set at $49.95, and is promoted as an activation fee to open your account.

But you don’t even need to pay that until you have gone through the process of getting that first product up and running on ClickBank. There are a number of steps that need to be followed properly, and it is highly advisable to read through all the terms, conditions and frequently asked questions (FAQs) that the site offers.

Not only will this ensure you understand everything before you sign up, but it will prevent delays in getting your eBook online and visible through ClickBank itself. For example, if you were planning on writing a book about making money via promoting through social networking websites, you’ll need to give ClickBank a miss as they don’t allow them. In reality though there are very few exceptions, and most of them are obvious when you think about it.

That’s one very important point to remember though – ClickBank will vet every product you submit for inclusion on the site, so there’s no getting around the rules. You will need to submit your eBook and wait for their approval before it is included on the site. If there is something they don’t like, or a rule you have tripped up on, you’ll be able to amend it before continuing.

On the ClickBank site, they state that you need a pitch page. That’s simply another term for a sales page, so we’ve covered that already. All you need to do is to make sure it meets all their requirements.

One thing you should note is that if you are going to use ClickBank to help you make more sales, your payment link will go through their website. So if you were planning to link it up to PayPal, you won’t need to, because ClickBank will step in with their secure server instead. This is so they can monitor who sends the customers to your site, and who makes the sales for you.

There are certain requirements made by ClickBank that have to be on that sales page, so make sure they are all included. They are all quite simple though, such as the need to make it crystal clear how much the customer has to pay to receive your product. Simple, huh? Be sure you check the ClickBank website to see exactly what is required.

You should be able to write your sales page and then tweak it if necessary though; there’s nothing much to worry about there.

And once they have given you the nod on your first eBook, you pay your fee and off you go. And don’t forget that you can put every single one of your future eBooks on the site as well, provided that the eBooks meet ClickBank’s terms and conditions.

Make sure you promote the fact that people can sell your eBook and receive a cut of the proceeds too. If you have a blog, you’ll certainly be mentioning the fact that you are going to launch your latest (or first) eBook on ClickBank. So why not mention that your readers can sell it too?

Once you have set up your product and received product approval you should create another account that you will use for your affiliate links. The first thing you want to do is use your affiliate account to create an affiliate link to your eBook landing page. Click on your affiliate link and purchase your own eBook. This is the same as someone else buying your eBook, but when you do it immediately after product approval your eBook will be listed in the ClickBank Market Place and it will have a gravity of 1. There isn’t enough space to cover all the great tips about how to sell successfully through ClickBank, so consider ClickBank Publisher Super Tips from ClickBank Guru Harvey Segal.

And don’t forget that in chapter fourteen, we’ll be exploring lots of ways to promote your eBook. Why not promote the affiliate opportunity as well? All you need to do is send them to ClickBank to sign up for free, and they can get started straightaway.

Selling Your EBook on ClickBank

January 30th, 2009 No comments

So your website is launched. Well done! That’s a big step for anyone to take.

Let’s take things a step further now, starting with a question. How would you like to have an army of people promoting your eBook for you? And how would you like them to do it for free unless they sold a copy? Well, it’s not a pipe dream, it’s a reality, and it comes to you courtesy of the website ClickBank.

Selling eBooks on ClickBank has given a lot of eBook writers the chance to vastly increase their sales with over 100,000 affiliates looking for quality products to promote.

SO WHAT IS CLICKBANK?

ClickBank is a website that brings authors and affiliates together. For example, we know that authors can join the site in the hope that affiliate members may want to promote and earn from their book.

But for affiliates (for whom registration is free) there is the chance to make a big income from promoting other people’s products. And because everything in between is handled by ClickBank, there is no problem in trying to handle paperwork or transactions.

And that is worth the small fee that authors will pay to take advantage of this chance to increase their sales. The site is also very well thought out, and if there is one thing that really stands out, it’s the help that is offered.

There are plenty of FAQ sections and resources for both affiliates and sellers on the site, and that makes it very useful to both. There is no doubting the professionalism of this company, and that is obvious from the fact that most people online will have heard of the name ClickBank from one source or another.

Are you getting curious? Let’s find out a little about how it all works.

This information is one of 305 pages of detailed steps for Writing, Publishing, and Selling EBooks and now you can receive a FREE 110 pages ABRIDGED VERSION just by clicking Work From Home Writing, Publishing & Selling EBooks.

Projecting Positive and Encouraging Emotions In Sales Page

January 30th, 2009 No comments

When people reach your sales page and start reading, they might be in any kind of mood. It’s your job to lift them up and make them believe that getting your eBook will change their lives in some way.

It’s obvious that no eBook can do that without help from the reader; they will need to put in their bit of effort too of course. You could give someone the winning lottery numbers for next week… but they would still need to physically go out and buy a ticket.

It can help enormously to make a list of the points you want to get across during the course of your sales letter. So, for example, a book about writing eBooks and earning a good income from them might cover these points:

  • You can make a good second income from this venture.
  • You can become a recognized author.
  • You can become an expert on a particular subject that you love.
  • You could build a whole new business that will result in replacing your current job altogether.
  • Once the eBooks are written, you can carry on earning from them forever more.
  • It can develop into a real ‘hands off’ business. The site is up 24/7, and you can set it up so that people can pay and receive their eBook straightaway, all without you having to do a thing.
  • You can build up an income alongside your current job and only leave when you have replaced it – so it’s a safe thing to do.
  • It’s a very low cost business to get started in, unlike many others which require thousands of dollars to invest in them.
  • You’ll see a profit far more quickly than you would in many other businesses.

It’s your job to make sure that you let them know just what your eBook can do for them. Don’t be shy and pull back from telling them all the benefits your eBook has. Remember that doing all you can to promote your eBook will make the difference between no sales and lots of sales.

Now it could be that your product has one or two negative points – or at least, one or two points that could be construed as being negative when viewed in comparison with the opposition.

For example, supposing someone else has released an eBook on the same subject that comes with a number of free videos as well. These videos actually show the readers how to complete certain steps and techniques that are included in the eBook. And let’s further suppose that this particular eBook is already selling very well.

But yours doesn’t have any of that. So what do you do?

It’s simple. Don’t make any reference at all to this other eBook, and don’t say that yours doesn’t have videos with it either. If you ever find yourself typing something negative when you are writing your sales page, edit it out immediately and turn it into a positive.

Don’t focus on the negatives about your eBook for any reason. For example, your eBook might only be twenty pages long, and you might think that some people could look at that as being a negative point. They might not buy it for that reason. Maybe they’re looking for something a lot longer and a lot meatier.

So what do you do?

Well to start with, you need to understand that just because an eBook is short, that doesn’t mean that it is any less worthy than some of the longer eBooks being sold online today. In fact, I’ll bet that many of the shorter ones are way better than the long ones anyway, because they get right to the point and don’t waffle on when there is no need to waffle on.

If your eBook is short, tell people that it is a handy little guide to whatever your subject may be. They won’t get any fluff or waffle – just the facts they will need to succeed in whatever you are writing about. Now that is a great benefit!

Let’s look at a few other examples of things that could be thought of as negatives turned into positives:

  • Negative – the eBook has no pictures.
  • Positive – the eBook is packed with nothing but text and the type of information you want.
  • Negative – the eBook only has three sections.
  • Positive – the eBook contains everything you need in three easy to access sections.
  • Negative – each chapter is only three or four pages long.
  • Positive – each chapter contains just what you need to get ahead.

Do you see how this works?

I’m sure you are probably thinking about your eBook in a brand new way now. You should be proud of your product – hey, you created it yourself – and so now it’s time to tell the world about just how good it is.

You should know that whatever you do, you won’t be able to please everyone. But if you can please as many people as possible, then you will be doing pretty well.

Writing Sizzling Sales Page Copy

January 30th, 2009 No comments

WRITING SIZZLING SALES PAGE COPY

If you can write a great sales page that converts more than two sales per 100 website visitors, you will make money. If you can’t, you will need to learn how or hire a landing page copy expert, which will run you between $1,000 and $30,000. If you want to do-it-yourself, you will need to learn the tips, tricks, and strategies. We of course have such a resource; Guidebook to Building and Optimizing High Converting Landing Pages.

FOCUS ON LENGTH

Although the sales page is just a single page, you’ll notice that many of them are quite long. This is to draw people in and tell them a story and all about the benefits of how your product will cure their “problem”. The longer you can keep them on your sales page. The more chance you have of selling them your eBook, so you need to ensure that every single word you write is as good as you can possibly make it.

Do your research here and look at some sales pages created for products being sold by other people. Don’t copy them, but pay attention to what works and what really draws you in and model yours on the same kind of format. You should be able to highlight and copy and paste the text on a page and insert it into a blank Word document to find out the amount of words that have been used to create the whole page. Do remember that you shouldn’t edit or rewrite anyone else’s web pages though – we’re just using them here to get an idea of how long they are. It’s far quicker than counting all the words individually!

I’ve experimented with a few sales pages, and the average length came out to around 3,000 words. That equates to around six pages of five hundred words each if you’re using a typeface similar to Verdana in 11 point.

So you can see that the sales page takes its time to ensure that every single reader is convinced of how good the eBook is. And every single word must count.

WHAT MAKES YOUR EBOOK DIFFERENT?

Think back to when you started researching the subject for your eBook in the first place. If you found a subject that no one really searched for that had no eBooks published on it, you would have run a mile. That certainly wouldn’t have been a good topic to think about writing an eBook on, as it clearly wasn’t something that was called for.

But let’s say you researched a subject and found that it was very popular. People were always searching for information about it, and there were plenty of eBooks out there already that dealt with the topic in one way or another. Ironically, even though you had all that competition, it told you that it was a popular topic, and it was something that you could sell books about yourself.

Now this is where some people fall down. They assume that they can write a great book on the subject, and it will sell really well without them having to work too hard on it. But of course it doesn’t work like that. They might sell some copies, sure… but they won’t sell anywhere near as many as they would if they could stand up and tell everyone what made their eBook special and what made it different from all the rest on that same topic.

So think about what your eBook includes and make sure you focus on that one thing that makes it unique. You can bet that people will be asking themselves this very same question when they are reading your sales page, and if you can tell them right up front what they are looking for, they will thank you for it and might even reward you with an order as well.

Another point you need to be aware of here is that you should be telling them more than once about that special something that sets your eBook apart. Don’t tell them right up front and then assume they will remember for the whole of the rest of the sales page. They might, but regardless of whether they do or not, you need to be reminding them how fantastic your eBook is and why they need to buy yours instead of someone else’s.

Sales Page Optimization Tips

January 30th, 2009 No comments

Sales page optimization tips include more than we can cover in a single post, so we will be adding many posts about this critical segment for making money online.

One way of blending additional pieces of information that you need in your sales letter is to separate them in boxes using the same color border around them. These are all ways of making sure the whole thing hangs together nicely.

As we progress further and you learn how to write a great sales letter that will sell more copies of your eBook, you will recognize the areas of the sales letter that will benefit from being displayed in this way. We’ve plenty more to learn yet, but by the end of this chapter you will know how to promote your eBook to the best of your ability through your website. And you will also know how to use all the best techniques available to ensure that people are clamoring to buy it.

FOCUS ON THE FIRST SCREEN FULL OF INFORMATION

This applies to what you write for your sales page as well, but I am going to mention it here because it applies to the design as well.

When someone visits your mini site, what is the first thing they are going to see?

The answer is the first screen full of your website. They won’t see anything else, nothing else at all.

That means you MUST make sure that first section is absolutely the best that you can make it. You MUST ensure that everyone who sees it is going to feel compelled to start scrolling down to see what else you have to say.

Now you can obviously achieve a lot with words here, and we will cover that part in a moment, but you can also do a lot with images. These are, after all, the first things that someone will see.

So look at the title of your eBook very carefully. What images does it bring to mind? For example, let’s take the title of this book you’re reading now and see what images we get:

“Work From Home Writing, Publishing, and Selling EBooks: A Blueprint For Internet Business Success”

What does this bring to mind?

Here is what I came up with:

  • It’s about eBooks

So a pile of books perhaps? Or more likely, since this is all about eBooks as opposed to paperback books, a picture of a computer with a graphic of a book or a stack of pages coming out of it.

  • Home based business

Most people think about working from home at some time or another, so what images could there be that encapsulate that? The idea of working with our feet up, tapping away at a laptop placed on our knees – that could work. It fits in with the idea of writing eBooks on the computer as well. We could mock up the picture to include a view over the person’s shoulder, so we can see they are writing a document of some kind.

  • Easy money

This one is simple. Stacks of cash perhaps. Or even better, someone sitting among piles of banknotes. How about someone sitting at their computer (we would have the viewpoint of sitting behind the screen, looking directly at the person), with a stream of banknotes coming out of the computer screen? There are loads of possibilities here.

  • Internet

Once again, this would probably involve a computer screen. Perhaps with a browser window open and someone looking at a sales page of a brand new eBook?

You can see how it’s perfectly possible to start generating ideas for images without doing anything more than looking at the title of your eBook. In fact, it’s probably completely unnecessary to do anything else, since people will take in two things when they land on your web page – the images they see on that first screen full of information, and the words you put on there.

People react strongly to images, so you want to make sure you have one built into the header at the top of the screen. If you can show them an image that has positive connotations linked to what the book can do for them, you will be starting on a very positive footing indeed.

So you can see how important it is to concentrate on your design, especially where the first screen you see is concerned. Of course the writing on the sales page is the most important aspect of all, and we will be moving on to that in a moment.

But first let’s consider a very important point in the creation of your mini site.

Tips for Creating an Effective Affiliate Sign Up Page

January 30th, 2009 No comments

AFFILIATE SIGN UP PAGE

Affiliate sign-up page – This is the page where you will be sending potential affiliates to try and convince them to sign up to promote your product. Therefore, this is also a sales page, thought much smaller than your landing page. You should set up an account with an auto responder such as GetResponse or AWeber to capture affiliate names and email addresses, which will allow you to contact them when you have new affiliate tools, product updates, milestones, etc. to share with your Team. Feel free to check out one of our affiliate sign up pages here.

Although ClickBank is manages commission tracking and payments to affiliates the professionals use additional affiliate management software where you can sell multiple ClickBank products from one ClickBank account (pays for itself after a few products). I use easyClickMate ClickBank Affiliate Management Tool, which also provides the affiliate tools page; automatically send email to affiliates for each sale, and tracking information. The most important benefit of this software, in my option, is that your affiliates have to sign up to access the affiliate tools, so you have their name and email address so that you can communicate with them about current and future products.

AFFILIATE TOOLS EXAMPLE

Affiliate tools page – This is your opportunity to help your affiliates with their promotion campaign. The quality and quantity of tools you provide to your affiliates will affect how many affiliates sign up and promote your product. You should have your website designer require that the affiliates use their ClickBank nickname for their users name to log into auto responder and automatically populate their ClickBank nickname into all the affiliate tools that you offer. This will save your affiliates time and they will appreciate that.

You should also host your affiliate banners on your own servers and provide the code to your affiliates so that your server space is used to serve up banner ads rather than using your affiliate server space. Many affiliates are concerned with the amount of bandwidth they use each month. To see an example of an affiliate page check out the manual below.

Website Design Free Content: Privacy Policy & Disclaimer

January 30th, 2009 No comments

MINI SITE DESIGN SPECIFICS AND & SAMPLE CONTENT

A mini site is not just a single sales page with a buy now button. Google slams these sites with poor Adwords Quality Scores, which results in high pay per click costs. The navigation links to these pages should be located in an inconspicuous place on your home/sales page to prevent taking attention away from the reader. The typical location is on the bottom of the website in the footer. The pages that every mini site should have are described below.

FREE PRIVACY POLICY PAGE TEXT

Privacy Policy – A professional website should have a privacy policy, and that will keep Google happy, so spend a few minutes and post one on your mini site and link to it from your sales page at the bottom in your website footer. You can move the navigation bar anywhere you like on the rest of the website, but keep it out of sight on the sales page so that you don’t distract the reader from acting on your call to action.

You can use a privacy policy offered free at Free Website Legal Documents or you can modify one for your specific website more tailored to meet Google requirements at Macuha. If you plan to use this policy, I recommend that you capture the screen shot showing that the website owner is offering the use of his policy and keep it filed for your own protection.

FREE DISCLAIMER PAGE TEXT

Disclaimer – If you are promoting a product that claims that you have made money using this product or that your buyer will make money with your product, you need an earnings disclaimer. For a starting point, you can use the information at Free Website Legal Documents.

Tips for Buying a Profitable Domain Name

January 30th, 2009 No comments

Register your domain name at one of the popular domain registration websites. Make the domain as short as possible with your keyword/phrase and use a Top Level Domain. The best real estate on the Internet is and always will be .com, so consider this when buying a domain name.

The practice of adding hyphens to a domain name is still being debated.

Pros include:

  • Easier to obtain a domain name as hyphens increase the number of possibilities using the same key phrase.
  • Potentially better for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) as the hyphen clearly separates the keywords to reduce the possibility that the search engines confuse your keywords. This possibility is greatly reduced with the ever improving search engine software

Cons include:

  • Difficult to communicate a domain with hyphens. Imagine telling someone to go to NewMarketHurricanes.com compared to new-market-hurricanes.com.
  • Considered less important and sometimes spammy by many people.
  • Longer domain with hyphens.
  • Increased number of available domains when using numbers with your keywords, but it can add confusion to search engines (is it 1 or one?), and it rarely “rolls off the tongue” or is memorable.

The below is a step by step guide to setting up your domain name, hosting account, and blog. Instructions are based on the more popular providers of each service.

Go to GoDaddy.com, or your favorite domain registration company, and register your domain name. Set up a web hosting package.

SETTING UP WEBHOSTING STEPS

Go to UltraWebsiteHosting.com, or your favorite hosting company, and set up an Ultra Hosting Plan or an Ultra Reseller Plan. The Reseller Plan gives you 10 GBs of disk space and 400 GBs for as many websites as you wish, and it is quite simple to use. Bookmark the log in URL so that it is easy to find in the future.
