Are You Thinking About Starting A Home Business?

March 15th, 2009

There are many home business opportunities cropping up left and right. From a simple, home based cookery and delivery setup to a complex internet marketing endeavor, these are all accessible to anyone with the right equipment and the right grit. Sometimes however, you want to leap into a whole bunch of holes at the same time, but you can’t pick the one that you think is right for you.

Well, luckily, there’s a new kind of business that you can get into, one that requires you to hire a writer – or even, be a writer yourself. That business is in e-books. These e-books can make an enormous amount of money if you market them the right way. You only pay the writer once for making the book, but you can sell that document an infinite number of times forever. You could even develop a kind of online book store, with books that never run out of stock if you wish. Despite all the promise and potential that this has, there are still some concerns you need to look into.

“Money Takes Time, But The Internet Doesn’t Know That”

Most big time businesses take time to turn a profit – in fact, turning a profit in the very first year is often considered amazing. For a home business based on selling e-books, it has a larger swing area. The time it takes to turn a real profit can take anywhere from a few days or a few months depending on the scale and the demand for your e-books. The strength of the site you’re selling them on also changes things. You can start making money selling ebooks online in a very short amount of time compared to other business ventures.

“The Balancing Act”

For most people, starting a home business is a matter of timing and balance. Most people who have the capital to start a home business probably have a day job that provides the said capital and the income. No matter how much money the e-books or digital works will start producing, no matter how high your return of investment would eventually be, there’s that starting point where nothing would come in. If you still need that job to keep the electricity on, you won’t be able to focus a great amount of attention on your internet business. This consideration will help you in figuring out just which ventures you could truly focus on.

“What the World Wants”

The topic that you’re writing about should be one people want to hear about. It’s a matter of figuring out what kind of services and products people are really looking for. This could be something that everyone wants everywhere, or this could be something that you could provide to people who can’t quite get at it. Naturally, this process of picking and sorting through topics takes a bit of time and effort.

A home venture can be a very profitable endeavor, given the right conditions. What those conditions are depend on your location and the way the world is at that current time, especially pertaining to the economy. Since you probably can’t change those, you should focus on what you can change – your decision. A home business selling ebooks may just be the decision that works out for the best for you.

EBooks, To Finally Become Popular?

February 7th, 2009

As Amazon is expected to release a revised version of its Kindle eBook reader on Monday, analysts expect that there will be much hype over this market in the following period.

Amazon did this again in November 2007, when it released the first generation of Kindle. While the concept of a dedicated eBook reader was somewhat popular, the specifications and the connectivity features of Kindle convinced many people, especially students, that these types of devices are the way to go these days.

However, market researchers predict that the revolution in the eBook arena will be the integration with cell phones. For instance, Amazon has already announced that it would make its dedicated eBook platform available for smartphones in the near future. This means that virtually anybody will be able to get eBooks from Amazon’s impressive digital library on their phone.

In the Kindle Backorder Queue? Kindle 2 Upgrade Offer

February 5th, 2009

Amazon’s old and new Kindle (credit: Boy Genius Report)

Folks the current Amazon Kindle backorder list might be getting an upgrade offer real soon. Stephen Windwalker, a Kindle book author, explains that the Amazon is gearing up for the Kindle 2. The updated eBook reader should be introduced on Monday at a press event.

So what happens if you ordered a Kindle but don’t have it yet? Steven says that Amazon will offer a chance to upgrade to the newer device at a small price increase. He says to expect roughly a 10% bump, which is around $35 at today’s Kindle pricing. If true, I figure Amazon will launch the device at the $399, which is the first Kindle’s original price; it later dropped to the current $359.

New eBook Features Give Clients New Ways to Turn Content into Profit

February 5th, 2009

This eBook includes two user-friendly new features; a realistic “flipping page” effect and an improved print version. Automatic printable versions are now created directly from the eBook, making it simple to print out all eBook pages, and eliminating conversion errors. These new features create an improved and even more innovative way for media companies to deliver quality editorial content online.

On the reporting side, eBook publishers now have more detailed information on their traffic-driving efforts. Advanced Link Tracking allows eBook clients to receive in-depth information on how many targets from different marketing campaigns register for an eBook, as well as who these targets are, their contact information and demographics, and their interaction with the eBook.

Lastly, the code for MWS’s eBooks has been completely rewritten in ActionScript 3.0. This upgrade allows eBook compatibility with all Adobe’s latest technologies, including Adobe Air.

“These new features keep our eBooks ahead of the pace in custom digital publishing technology,” says COO Margaret T. Minnick. “In addition to being a more innovative way of showcasing and monetizing online content than a traditional digital edition, our eBooks are incredibly user-friendly and provide an excellent lead-generation tool. The latest reporting innovation, Advanced Link Tracking, was suggested by a client of ours and has been called the ‘Holy Grail of marketing.’ I’m looking forward to the next round of innovations, launching in mid-February.”

Projecting Positive and Encouraging Emotions In Sales Page

January 30th, 2009

When people reach your sales page and start reading, they might be in any kind of mood. It’s your job to lift them up and make them believe that getting your eBook will change their lives in some way.

It’s obvious that no eBook can do that without help from the reader; they will need to put in their bit of effort too of course. You could give someone the winning lottery numbers for next week… but they would still need to physically go out and buy a ticket.

It can help enormously to make a list of the points you want to get across during the course of your sales letter. So, for example, a book about writing eBooks and earning a good income from them might cover these points:

  • You can make a good second income from this venture.
  • You can become a recognized author.
  • You can become an expert on a particular subject that you love.
  • You could build a whole new business that will result in replacing your current job altogether.
  • Once the eBooks are written, you can carry on earning from them forever more.
  • It can develop into a real ‘hands off’ business. The site is up 24/7, and you can set it up so that people can pay and receive their eBook straightaway, all without you having to do a thing.
  • You can build up an income alongside your current job and only leave when you have replaced it – so it’s a safe thing to do.
  • It’s a very low cost business to get started in, unlike many others which require thousands of dollars to invest in them.
  • You’ll see a profit far more quickly than you would in many other businesses.

It’s your job to make sure that you let them know just what your eBook can do for them. Don’t be shy and pull back from telling them all the benefits your eBook has. Remember that doing all you can to promote your eBook will make the difference between no sales and lots of sales.

Now it could be that your product has one or two negative points – or at least, one or two points that could be construed as being negative when viewed in comparison with the opposition.

For example, supposing someone else has released an eBook on the same subject that comes with a number of free videos as well. These videos actually show the readers how to complete certain steps and techniques that are included in the eBook. And let’s further suppose that this particular eBook is already selling very well.

But yours doesn’t have any of that. So what do you do?

It’s simple. Don’t make any reference at all to this other eBook, and don’t say that yours doesn’t have videos with it either. If you ever find yourself typing something negative when you are writing your sales page, edit it out immediately and turn it into a positive.

Don’t focus on the negatives about your eBook for any reason. For example, your eBook might only be twenty pages long, and you might think that some people could look at that as being a negative point. They might not buy it for that reason. Maybe they’re looking for something a lot longer and a lot meatier.

So what do you do?

Well to start with, you need to understand that just because an eBook is short, that doesn’t mean that it is any less worthy than some of the longer eBooks being sold online today. In fact, I’ll bet that many of the shorter ones are way better than the long ones anyway, because they get right to the point and don’t waffle on when there is no need to waffle on.

If your eBook is short, tell people that it is a handy little guide to whatever your subject may be. They won’t get any fluff or waffle – just the facts they will need to succeed in whatever you are writing about. Now that is a great benefit!

Let’s look at a few other examples of things that could be thought of as negatives turned into positives:

  • Negative – the eBook has no pictures.
  • Positive – the eBook is packed with nothing but text and the type of information you want.
  • Negative – the eBook only has three sections.
  • Positive – the eBook contains everything you need in three easy to access sections.
  • Negative – each chapter is only three or four pages long.
  • Positive – each chapter contains just what you need to get ahead.

Do you see how this works?

I’m sure you are probably thinking about your eBook in a brand new way now. You should be proud of your product – hey, you created it yourself – and so now it’s time to tell the world about just how good it is.

You should know that whatever you do, you won’t be able to please everyone. But if you can please as many people as possible, then you will be doing pretty well.

Stuck Writing a Section of Your EBook? Use These Tips

January 29th, 2009

“WHAT IF I GET STUCK WRITING A PARTICULAR SECTION IN MY EBOOK?”

This is a very common thought, and it can come to mind even if you are currently having no problems at all with your writing.

The best and easiest solution to go for is initially to persevere with writing the section you are on. It is actually very difficult to carry on writing without stopping for any prolonged period of time, and sometimes a short break is entirely necessary to give you time to gather your thoughts and decide how to phrase the next section you are going to write.

But if you find yourself sitting there staring at your computer screen for anything more than about five minutes and you haven’t made any progress at all during that time, then that could be a sign that you need to stop and move on to something else.

That doesn’t mean you should stop writing your book though. If you still have some of your allotted time for that day left, all you need to do is glance at the structure you have created for your book and move on to another section that catches your eye.

You see, while fiction writers have little choice in having to move from one chapter onto the next in order, because of the nature of the book they are writing, non-fiction writers have more flexibility. You know exactly what needs to go in each section – thanks to that structure you carefully created for yourself – so there is no reason why you cannot move on to another part of the book that you do have some momentum to write.

This method will get the book written faster, and you can still go back and edit it all at the end to make sure the whole thing still flows. And when you go back next time and carry on with the section you abandoned, the chances are you will find you can proceed quite easily.
